# Templates

## Prerequisites

Go to **App Launcher** > **SignNow Admin Tools**.

Log in to your SignNow account and grant SignNow for Salesforce access to your account.

Click **Templates** in the left-hand menu.

---

On the **Templates** tab, Salesforce admins can access and configure existing document group templates in the SignNow account.

> To create documents pre-filled with Salesforce data from a tagged .docx template, use the **Document Generation** tab instead. See [Document generation](/docs/salesforce-document-generation).

Each template shows its location beneath its name, displayed as team or workspace name > folder name.

## Create new template

Create the new document group template without leaving Salesforce.

Click **Create New Template** and select the documents you want to add to the group. You can select multiple documents at a time.

Once the new document group is created, it will appear in the **Templates** tab.

When you create a new template, it is saved to the Templates folder in your default workspace Team.

If the default workspace can't be identified:

- when you belong to a single workspace, it is saved to that workspace's Templates folder.
- when you belong to several workspaces and can't set a default (you are not an admin), it is saved to the Templates folder of the first workspace you can access.

## Add fillable fields

Improve the signing experience for users by customizing documents in the SignNow editor.

Click **Add Fillable Fields** to open the document group template in the editor.

You can add fillable fields to documents, assign them to recipients, and manage recipients.

> Click the bulb icon in the top-right to open **Help with the editing tools**.

When managing recipients, you can manage the signing order, add email addresses, and cc recipients. Click the dropdown arrow next to the recipient's email to set up advanced options.

- **Signer is Sender**: Select this option if the sender needs to be set as a recipient. Once **Signer is Sender** is checked, you cannot edit the recipient's email field.
- **Show decline button on Signature Field:** Select this option to allow recipients to decline to sign when they click on signature fields.

> Click **Help** in the top-right corner to learn more about managing recipients for the document group template.

## Pre-fill fillable fields

**Pre-fill documents** with Salesforce data and **update Salesforce records** using fillable field pre-filling.

Click **Pre-fill Fillable Fields** to start mapping fields in documents with Salesforce records.

- Select the Salesforce object you want to use for pre-filling.

![select_object.png](/reference-assets/images/SignNow_Salesforce/select_object.png)

- Select documents with fillable fields and click **Apply**.

![add_documents.png](/reference-assets/images/SignNow_Salesforce/add_documents.png)

- Click **Select Fields** to open the document's fillable fields available for mapping. Check the fields you want to pre-fill. Click **Apply**.

![select_fillable_fields.png](/reference-assets/images/SignNow_Salesforce/select_fillable_fields.png)

- Next, select the Salesforce fields for data binding.

Click the dropdown arrow in the **Select Salesforce Field** column to select the field that will pre-fill the fillable field in the document.

💡 You can also select records related to the main object for data binding.

In the **Salesforce Object** column, click the dropdown arrow and select the related record from the list.

![related_record.png](/reference-assets/images/SignNow_Salesforce/related_record.png)

- Use the **Field Editing** column to define whether recipients can edit the pre-filled data (**Allow Editing** is enabled by default).

> You can configure data mapping to either pre-fill the document only or both pre-fill the document and update the connected Salesforce record. Click the arrow in the second column to adjust the mapping behavior. By default, mapping only pre-fills the document.
