On the **Custom Links** tab, Salesforce admins can generate a link for custom buttons and add them to Salesforce record pages.

By clicking the custom button, users will send documents for signature based on the configuration set by the admin.

Let's follow the step-by-step instructions for creating a URL for a custom button.

## Select what should be sent for signature

Once a user clicks the custom button, the SignNow application will send documents for signature in a way pre-defined by the Salesforce admin.

You can choose one of three scenarios for what a user will send for signature.

> The template list includes both document group templates and document generation templates, which build the document from Salesforce record data. Document generation templates are marked **DOCX**. See [Document generation](/docs/salesforce-document-generation).

**1. Send a pre-selected SignNow document group template**

After a user clicks the custom button, they will open or send a document group template pre-selected by the admin.

> The admin can select multiple document group templates. The user can choose one of them by clicking the custom button.

If the Salesforce admin adds the document flow to the custom button, the user can perform actions defined by this document flow.

For example, if the admin hid the **Add Fields Screen** and **Map Fields Screen**, the user won't see these steps.

However, suppose the settings in the document flow do not match those in the document group template (e.g., the role name in the document flow configuration differs from the role name in the document group template). In that case, the user must edit the settings before sending the invite.

🎬 Here is an example of single-click sending using a pre-selected SignNow document group template with a configured document flow:

**2. Send a SignNow document group template selected by a user**

After a user clicks the custom button, they can select the document group template to send for signature (available on the **Templates** tab).

If the Salesforce admin adds the document flow to the custom button, the user can perform actions defined by the flow.

🎬 Here is an example of sending a SignNow document group template selected by a user with a configured document flow (the sender can add fillable fields and recipients).

**3. Send files attached to a Salesforce record**

After a user clicks the custom button, they can select files attached to the Salesforce record and send them for signature.

> The supported file types are PDF, DOCX, PNG, JPG, JPEG, GIF, BMP, DOC, ODT, RTF, and XML.

If multiple files are available, the user can merge them and manage the merging order. For this scenario, the document flow configuration can also be added.

🎬 Here is an example of sending the Salesforce attachments for signature without a configured document flow.

> Once all recipients have signed the document, it is saved in the **Notes & Attachments** section of the associated Salesforce object.

## **Add the SignNow document flow (optional)**

Click on the dropdown arrow to select the existing document flow.

The document flow settings will be applied to documents a user will send for signature.

If nothing is selected, the user can customize documents and signature invites before sending them to recipients.

## **Enter the object name**

Enter the Salesforce object name where you will add the custom button.

![add_object_copy_url.png](/reference-assets/images/SignNow_Salesforce/add_object_copy_url.png)

> The object name should be the **API name** of the object where you want to place the custom button, as listed in the **API NAME** column on the **Object Manager** page:

![custom_links_object_api_name.png](/reference-assets/images/SignNow_Salesforce/custom_links_object_api_name.png)

Now, you can copy the link and insert it into the custom button.

## Add the custom button to the Salesforce object

Go to **Setup** > **Object Manager** and select the object (**Contact** in our example) where you want to add the custom button.

![setup_object_contact.png](/reference-assets/images/SignNow_Salesforce/setup_object_contact.png)

Click the required object and click **Buttons, Links, and Actions** on the left panel. Then click **New Button or Link** in the top right corner.

![new_button_link.png](/reference-assets/images/SignNow_Salesforce/new_button_link.png)

Enter the custom button details, such as the label, display type, behavior, etc. The **Content Source** should be the URL.

Insert the generated link into the **Custom Button or Link Editor** field. Click **Save** to save your button.

> Ensure the **Display Type** is set to **Detail Page Button**.

![save_button.png](/reference-assets/images/SignNow_Salesforce/save_button.png)

Next, add the custom button to the object page layout.

Select **Page Layout** on the left panel and click the required page layout from the list.

![page_layout.png](/reference-assets/images/SignNow_Salesforce/page_layout.png)

Click **Mobile & Lightning Actions** and locate the custom button you created. Drag and drop the button to the desired section of the page layout and click **Save**.

![actions_drag_and_drop.png](/reference-assets/images/SignNow_Salesforce/actions_drag_and_drop.png)

> In the Salesforce Classic interface, navigate to **Buttons** and locate the custom button you created. Drag and drop it into the **Custom Buttons** section on the page layout, then click **Save**.

Your custom button should be visible to users.
